Recollections, McKnight-Westwind Transit Station, Calgary, Alberta

Recollections laminated into the glass of two heated platform shelters, colorful circles that frame historical images, many of which come from photo collections of the families in the surrounding neighborhoods. Approaching the stations passengers witness colorful dots dancing across the glass’ surfaces. Upon further inspection, they discover the historical and contemporary images of their community.

When driving through the Petroglyph monument, the road reveals that one is traveling through an out of the ordinary place. This is done through a variety of enhancements including a number of light boxes hosting images of various local fauna. The intent is for this new chapter in the monument’s history to be a chapter that while different, none the less acknowledges its past.

Arizona Landscape integrates an overpass bridge with its visually eclectic site by enhancing the retaining walls with a variety of surface patterns that echo the desert landscapes and vistas. The idea of movement and travel through time and space adds a second layer to the work with the placing beneath the overpass stainless steel figures that glide across the simulated landscape.
